In this component there is only option to fetch content from K2 component-categories.

I wonder, if it is possible to fetch content from "regular" joomla categories.

We provided other module which can fetch content from Content component.
But now we don't have a module can fetch from k2 and content components, if you want this, please submit custom work, our developer will custom it for you.
