I´m trying to create thumbs without streaching, fill or center and they must be represent the whole picture!!!

Do some body knows how can I show thumbs which fill the defined size, do not change proportions and get almost the picture?

I think the solution is following:
If I have an image that was 480x240, must be first reduced to 240x120 and then cropped to 120x120 - so you always have a perfectly filled square thumbnail image instead of resizing and filling the background to make your square thumbnail.
