I just registered on my test site with the default Worldnews template. I clicked register on the top right and filled-in the questions and clicked submit. I was redirected to another screen that says my account was created, but shows an empty registration form to fill-out. That is confusing for users, how do I use just one or the other?

I think you can disable the registration form in k2 component.

Please go to the administrator => Components => K2 => Parameters => Advanced tab => set Enable K2 User Profile as No (see the attached image).
