We think that you can choose the elements affected by google font in the template settings.

=> go to Extensions => Template Manager => Sj Joomla3 => Options tab => Typography =>
Affected Selectors
(google fonts)

Yes, Ubuntu font is applied. But only for Latin symbols.

And here is how Russian text looks on my site



I expect when I use google font, that all text, English and Russian looks the same as it is on Google font site.

As you see they are different, so I think that Google font just not applied to Russian letters
