This guide will help you install SJ Categories II for K2 step by step.

When you buy the module the first time, you will have the latest version. After the first release, we will update this module regularly, please check newer versions when informed here

At the basic level, this module will require the following conditions:

  • Compatible with version Joomla: Joomla! 1.7.x, 2.5.x and Joomla! 3.x

Prepare your module package

  • Firstly, you need to UNZIP file that you have downloaded. Please note that you should choose modules package that are suitable with each Joomla version which you have just downloaded
  • Secondly, install main module (extracted mod_ file):
  • In your Administrator page, go to Extensions -> Extension Manager. In this page, click Choose File, select module package.
  • Then click Upload & Install

  • Please wait for module being installed, usually within several seconds.
  • Now go to Extensions -> Module Manager, click Select Type box and choose the module you have installed
  • Prepare to perform Module Configuration

After installing, go to Extension -> Module Manager and find SJ Categories II for K2 to configure

SJ Categories II for K2 module is configured in 4 groups of parameters as following:

  • General Options
  • Source Options
  • Image Options
  • Advanced Options

Let’s look at the parameters in detail:

General Options

  • Module Width – Allow to set module width
  • Theme – We support 4 themes:
    • Theme 1
    • Theme 2
    • Theme 3
    • Theme 4

Source Options

  • Select Categories – Allow to select categories
  • Number columns – Allow to set number of column that are displayed each row
  • Max items level 2 – Allow to set max items level that are displayed
  • Max columns in tooltip – Allow to set max columns in tooltip
  • Title max chars – Allow to set max character of categories title
  • More/Hide button text – Allow to show button OR not
  • Image linkable – Allow to enable/disable link when click image
  • Category Link Target – Set target for links:
    • New Window – Opens the link in a new browser window.
    • Same Window – Opens the link in a same browser window
    • Popup Window – Opens the link in a pop-up browser window

Image Options

  • Thumbnail Width – Allow to set the width of thumbnail
  • Thumbnail Height – Allow to set the height of thumbnail
  • Thumbnail Background Color – Allow to set the background color of thumbnail
  • Resize Mode – There are 4 resize modes:
    • Fill
    • Stretch
    • Center
    • Fit

Advanced Options

  • Module Class Suffix – Allow you to choose another CSS class that suits your template
  • Intro-text – The content to show at the top of module
  • Footer-text – The content to show at the end of module
  • Caching
    • Use Global: Turn on caching
    • No Caching: Turn off caching
  • Cache Times – The time to cache
  • Module Tag – Allow to select the HTML Tag for module
  • Bootstrap Size – Allow to set the number of columns that module will use.
  • Header Tag – Allow to select the HTML Tag for module header/title
  • Header Class – Support the CSS Class for module header/title
  • Module Style – Select module style
